I started my photography business in Okinawa, Japan near beautiful sandy beaches, tall green trees, and gorgeous sunsets. Once we made the move to Idaho my whole photography scene shifted. It was a big change to nothing but open fields and mountains. Normally, if you want a body of water and some sand you’d have to drive about 3 hours out to another city/ town.
Lucky Peak Lake is located about 20-30 minutes from Boise State University, so I’m here to make sure you don’t miss this hidden gem.
To enter this area, you’ll drive past the parking entrance to Lucky Peak Lake for about 20 minutes (coming from downtown Boise) until you hit the bridge. Once you drive over that bridge, you’ll make your first immediate right to the boat docking area (pay attention to the signs). Park down at the loading dock, and start your adventure to scouting the area!
Once I found out about this place, I had to shoot a session here! So, I reached out to Annie + Taylor and they were so open to the ideas I had. You guys have no idea the excitement I had going into this session! I wanted a fun couple who would be willing to get into the water, because WHY NOT?!
Annie + Taylor made my vision come to life! Not only with the beautiful photos we captured, but we got to play around with Super 8 Film and Digital video for this session. Shooting here made me so excited for the next session!
The beautiful location you see in the photos isn’t the only area of Lucky Peak Lake. There are small hikes up to the mountain view locations as well! Definitely plan a day to come out and scout the area for your next session!
Try to schedule your next session (or book your session) around sunrise or sunset! The lighting at this location is best for those two time frames!
Take a look at the outcome —
